Gabatron Morning Briefing – 10-6-15: Don’t Stand In Front Of A Train

All around the country teens have decided it’s a cool idea to take selfies on train tracks. Five people have been killed doing it just this year. They think they’ll be quick enough to get out of the way. Is that just normal teenagers thinking they are invincible or have we reached peak teen stupidity?

Interesting Stat of the Day: 53.9 pounds. How much beef Americans will consume per capita in 2015, the lowest level of consumption since the government started tracking the number in 1970.

An American Airlines flight from Phoenix to Boston was diverted to Syracuse, New York after the captain became ill and later died.

The promotions staff behind the new movie “Suffragettes” decided it would be a good idea to have all of the cast members pictured wearing identical t-shirts promoting the film. Unfortunately the t-shirts read “I’d rather be a rebel than a slave.” In the UK where the movie was made, no one batted an eye. Here in the US, “rebel” is a fairly loaded term.

In science news, 30 years after the Chernobyl accident the area has turned into a nature reserve, teeming with elk, deer and wolves.

Plus, a Libertarian candidate for Senate in Florida has admitted to sacrificing a goat and drinking it’s blood.
