Gabatron Morning Briefing – 6-22-15: Phony Tornado Alarms Reduce Readiness

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine says adults should get at least seven hours of sleep a night. Getting less than six hours of shut-eye a night has been associated with heart attacks, strokes, obesity and diabetes.

Interesting Stat of the Day: According to a new study three out of every four tornado warnings are false alarms.

People in the news, remember Jake Lloyd? He played young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. He was arrested after sending police on a high speed chase in Charleston, South Carolina after the weekend.

In technology news, we have a good old fashioned war between Taylor Swift and Apple. Taylor is upset because Apple is offering users a three month trial period and won’t be paying artists to play their music. Apple ultimately caved.

In sports, Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer may be the only person ever disappointed in a no-hitter. He was throwing a perfect game until he hit Jose Tabata with the Pittsburgh Pirates with two out in the 9th.

Plus, an official in Russia is calling for an investigation into the Apollo missions on the Moon.
