Gabatron Morning Briefing – 5-27-15: Free Range Parenting

A Maryland couple have been cleared of any charges for letting their two young children walk home alone from local parks. They are ages 6 and 10 respectively, and the park in question is about half a mile away. They call it “free range parenting,” and say they are teaching their children self-reliance and responsibility.

Interesting stat of the day: 60%. That’s the number of patients who decided to get a second opinion and got one that was different from the initial diagnosis.

In politics, former FLOTUS Barbara Bush is celebrating her 90th birthday and you could join the Bush family for her party. All you have to do is sign a check for $5,000.

In technology news, Twitter on Tuesday launched the Android version of Periscope.

Merriam-Webster just added “emoji,” “meme,” “WTF” and “clickbait” to the dictionary.

Plus, seniors at Southern Maryland high school released 72,000 ladybugs in the school.
