Gabatron Morning Briefing – 2-19-15: Interstellar Visitor

New research indicates that 70,000 years ago a dim star passed within a mere 5 trillion miles of our solar system. That’s under one light year. That’s about one-fifth the distance from the solar system to Proxima Centauri. It’s called “Sholz’s Star” and was discovered in 2013.

Pew Research Center data suggests that a lot of people still watch network news, but the audience is shrinking and getting older. If network news went away right now, would you miss it?

A woman has started a website called “PayMeToDoYourHomework.com” where, as you may have guessed, you can pay her to do your homework for you. Prices range anywhere from $50-700, depending on the work and the deadline.

An Oregon man accused police of man-handling him when he was arrested. He was caught on tape punching himself in the face repeatedly. He was charged with initiating a false report and attempted coercion.
