Gabatron Morning Briefing 1-19-15: Distracted Driving & Giant Zippers

A Georgia man was ticketed for eating while driving. He was chowing down on a Double Quarter Pounder with cheese, when a police officer slapped him with a ticket for distracted driving. Eating a burger seems pretty tame when it comes to potential distractions, what’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen a fellow motorist doing?

A new study says that eating pizza is having an adverse impact on the nutritional health of teens. If eating pizza is wrong, than I don’t want to be right. Also, their suggestion is to increase the nutritional value of pizzas. I don’t know about the nutritional value, but Girodano’s is working to increase the awesomeness of pizza.

Plow tracker apps are all the rage these days, in Chicago and around the country. Of course they only work if they are accurate, and the Tribune article points to at least one instance where it was not.

Scare in the Air: A JetBlue flight taking off at JFK stopped short in the middle of takeoff because another plane strayed across the runway without notice or permission. Passengers were offered free trips for their ordeal, but the airline did offer them a change of underwear.

And finally… a giant zipper has been installed on the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s a moving barrier that is designed to keep people from getting into head-on collisions.
